Everything about Sundance TCM reflects developing and maintaining a balanced, full, and healthy life.
Our name. The Sun Dance is a Native American ceremony that is performed once a year to ensure the health of the tribe for the forthcoming year. The Dance lasts for several days. One may think of it as having the strong tribe members serve unselfishly for greater good of all. The "dancers" sacrifice and endure some hardship for the benefit of the tribe and all the people. This is in keeping with the mission of Sundance TCM. We will do what it takes to accommodate your treatment and health needs.
About Sundance Traditional Chinese Medicine
Our logo. The Sundance TCM logo translates to River and Sun or Water and Fire, reflecting balance, as well as Chinese Five Element Theory (also called Five Phase Theory) of control and nurturing. The Five Elements are: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.
Each of these Elements is responsible for nourishing and controlling another:
• Water controls Fire and nourishes Wood
• Wood controls Earth and nourishes Fire
• Fire controls Metal and nourishes Earth
• Earth controls Water and nourishes Metal
• Metal controls Wood and nourishes Water
Each Element represents a pair of meridians / organs as well as a host of other information:
• Water is the element representing the kidneys and urinary bladder
• Wood represents the liver and gall bladder
• Fire represents the heart and small intestine
• Earth represents the spleen and stomach
• Metal represents the lung and large intestine
About Sundance TCM Heroes
Sundance Traditional Chinese Medicine's vision has been influenced by myriad personalities - gods, goddesses, historic folks and exceptional contributors to the well-being of many. In planning this website, we decided to pay tribute to a few whose lives and vision are in some way indicative of the type of environment we offer. We call these influencers our heroes.
